Mike Posted June 25, 2007 Posted June 25, 2007 Signed both of you up. By the way, MusicManJ4, you've only posted in this thread once - nothing of yours was deleted.
echurchill Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Please sign me up as a competitor. (Harpsichord and organ...:D)
Mark Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 What an awesome combination! Can I pull out please, I won't be able to complete anything worth listening to, due to my inability to compose. Thanks :D
RavingSpleen Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I suppose my post was overlooked, or perhaps I'm not eligible? (;)) Either way, I'll say again that I would like to be signed up as a competitor. Thanks
zentari Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 I'd like to participate, although I'll be gone for the first two weeks in July.... I don't know if I'd be able to finish one in time and have the quality good enough.
Mike Posted June 26, 2007 Posted June 26, 2007 Added you both. Sorry for missing your earlier post, RavingSpleen.
James QZ Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Can I still participate? I don't see my name on there.
Mike Posted June 27, 2007 Posted June 27, 2007 Whoops, missed you too. We're not doing too brilliantly with keeping up here...
Guest Anders Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 Added you. And if you check the first post, you'll see I've put a limit to the number of participants.. The list is getting quite large!
colinthomson Posted June 28, 2007 Posted June 28, 2007 I DON'T want to be signed up (thought I should make that clear), but in competitions like this do we need to have the score? I am in the opposite situation from Violinfiddler, because I write everything by hand, and then I use VSL and my keyboard to play it, and record it. The only score I get is handwritten (and the one built into Logic Pro, but I have had a hard time getting that to do what I want it too). As I said before, I will not be participating in this, but I would like to know what I should do for other competitions. Colin Thomson
Guest Anders Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Yes, you need the score in competitions like this. Why not scan it?
rolifer Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Where and when should I post the completed work? I just finished a piece for cello and flute that I thought I would post in Chamber Music but I may come up with something else in this huge time allowance. Also, since I only have Kontakt, the cello is not a 'solo' sound, it is an ensemble. I assume that will not disqualify me?
Dirk Gently Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Sign me up. A competition would be great to motivate me to write, and I
Mike Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Signed you up, Verdi_Lver. Where and when should I post the completed work? I just finished a piece for cello and flute that I thought I would post in Chamber Music but I may come up with something else in this huge time allowance. Also, since I only have Kontakt, the cello is not a 'solo' sound, it is an ensemble. I assume that will not disqualify me? I think last time we had all competitors email their submission to the competition organiser, who then forwarded all of those onto the judges. The judges then replied with the judgings. Seemed to work pretty well. We'll probably do that this time. Note that the "something else" you come up with in between now and the deadline must be at least 50% new material, as dictated by the competition guideilnes. You should be able to switch to a solo cello patch within Kontakt player.
rolifer Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 You should be able to switch to a solo cello patch within Kontakt player. Kontakt silver does not come with a single cello patch. just ensembles. Unless there is another way this is all I have available. What I have ready now I started after signing up and anything else would also be started from scratch. So I assume it's ok to post my cello piece now and if I decide to use it in the contest I will e-mail it later?
Mike Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 Kontakt silver does not come with a single cello patch. just ensembles. Unless there is another way this is all I have available. I see. Would it not be possible to play back one instrument through Kontakt and the other through MIDI? What I have ready now I started after signing up and anything else would also be started from scratch. So I assume it's ok to post my cello piece now and if I decide to use it in the contest I will e-mail it later? I don't quite understand you. If your cello piece is in a fit state to be posted right now (i.e. complete), then you may not use it in the competition. Submissions must consist of at least 50% new material.
Guest Anders Posted June 30, 2007 Posted June 30, 2007 He's saying he started it after he signed up, which would make it 100% new material. And submissions will be posted in a submission thread, not emailed to me. Sorry for not clarifying this earlier. I'll add it to post 1.
