smallz Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 If you want to hear one of the greatest songs I've ever heard from an up-and-coming name, click on this link. http://www.jonathannewman.com/metropolitan.php It's called Metropolitan and I really can't stop listening to this "Rites of Spring in Manhattan" styled song. It is an incredible masterpiece that he even gives you the privilege of seeing the score of the song. I advise everyone right now to check this out and give your comments. Just a little background, Johnathan Newman is a member of BCM International, where some of you may know a contemporary in the group, Eric Whitacre. He has a rich background of education and well, you can read for yourself... Go listen and have an eargasm... it's that good. Quote
spc1st Posted December 16, 2005 Posted December 16, 2005 Neat piece - really reminds me of John Adams, though, at least the surface level (very similar harmonies, and the orchestration style as well). Quote
