dirk Posted December 11, 2005 Posted December 11, 2005 Has anyone analysed /unlocked that classical "feel" that Abba had in their songs. Could u give examples? Likewise Jean Michelle Jarre . The latter used broken chords in his synthesiser compositions giving that distinctive "European" texture. Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Interesting. Add to the list Electric Light Orchestra and Emerson, Lake and Palmer from the 1970s, and certain songs by the Beach Boys from the 1960s ("I Get Around" comes immediately to mind...the chord progressions or "changes" in the chorus sound like Beethoven to me). humnab Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Ah, EL&P. I still can't decide whether I like their 'Pictures at an exhibition' or not, classic of my childhood though it be. Quote
dirk Posted December 13, 2005 Author Posted December 13, 2005 Hi, Brian (Wilson) based some of the "Pet Sounds" songs on J S Bach pieces apparently...would love to know the specific details.......anyway i take it u dont know the answer to my question? Maybe it's too general....the Chopin esque little staccatto piano touches in "Dancing Queen" in the verse after "only seventeen" for example but songs like "Lay all your love on me" have that Jean Michelle Jarre feel due to broken chords if i'm not mistaken.....can anyway elaborate? re; Abba repetoire..
