Mahlertitan Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I have noticed that not alot of people have the paitence to write a paragraph of detailed analysis on someone's work, and i understand that, afterall, we are all busy, and we can't write a full 1000 words feedback on every new piece posted on this website, but people often get discourage when their work hasn't been getting any replies, so i think that this site should use a rating system, 1-10, 1 being the lowest 10 being perfection, so even if someone doesn't want to write a full 1000 words on a young composer's new work, he can still give some sort of feedback, and the youngcomposer at least has a clue on how good his music is. And maybe we can even carry this further, keep track all the composer's ratings and average them, so we can have a power ranking in this website, and see who is the best young composer. Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 Interesting idea, but too subjective. Quote
Mike Posted December 14, 2005 Posted December 14, 2005 I enabled the board's topic ratings feature in the upload forums (not Major Works, because that is too formal a setting for subjective instant ratings to be appropriate, like Lee said). Let's see where this takes us though. Ratings are actually shown in the forum view so if people use this system there will be a star rating out of 5 next to topics in each forum, so that will look quite nice. Also, we are going to be opening up a music management system at some point which supports ratings. Quote
