Mark Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I've been thinking of getting myself an electric piano, as I don't have the space for a real piano, and my keyboard is useless for practising piano, as it doesn't have pedals, or weighted keys. Can you recommend any electric pianos? What sort of price can I expect to pay for something fairly decent? Thanks :D Quote
Nightfly Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 My girlfriend bought hers from this site. First I thought buying such an instrument over the internet may be not too reliable. But to my surprise they did an excellent job with it. It came with a truck (!) with the best packaging I have seen. Absolutely no damage possible. But she didn't choose it from the internet she went to couple of shops to try and find the best she likes. Some people prefer the keys to suit their needs and some the sound. She didn't mind about the sound so she had to go around and try to find the one she liked. I suggest you look around first and find the one that you like best and then order it from internet. There is a huge price difference. And for the price... I think you better look around to the site that I gave you to have an idea. Quote
Mark Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Thanks for the advice, yes, I am planning on going round a few shops and trying out different ones, seeing which I like. Does the site you recommended deliver to the uk? I noticed it's not a uk domain. EDIT: ignore that, just noticed it's 'U.K. International cyberstore' :D Quote
Nightfly Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I stay in the UK too. they do deliver it here. Quote
Mark Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Awesome :D I just now need to find somewhere with a few of these I can try out, not many big music shops round here. Quote
Nightfly Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Ahhh, you should come over London some time. Theres a road dedicated for music shops. It's great. Though it's crazy to buy something there since the prices are way over the prices on the internet. Where do you live btw ? Quote
Mark Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 North of Scotland :D Although I am hopefully moving to london to study in a few years. Quote
Mark Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Thanks for the recommendation Nikolas, I'll be sure to try that one out if I see one :D Quote
Daniel Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 I ordered from the same site as Nightfly's girlfriend. It took a while to arrive (thanks to DHL), but they're the best prices around. I had previously gone around all of the shops and played until i found the best. THe best for a reasonable price, without bells and whistles is the Yamaha CLP 280, or for someone not so interested in pianism the 270 is the same model, a bunch cheaper, just without the wood keys. Seeing as you're not primarily a pianist, I would choose that over the 280. These are fairly expensive though, but it was worth it for me. (goodbye student loan). Expect to pay Quote
Daniel Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Sorry, I don't have experience with the lower end. Quote
Mark Posted July 3, 2007 Author Posted July 3, 2007 Thanks for your help anyway, I appreciate the advise. Quote
Nightfly Posted July 3, 2007 Posted July 3, 2007 Which model was your girlfriend's, Nightfly? Roland HP102e Quote
