Hello all. I am going to lead a team of 7 EDITORS (that includes me) to brush up on the wiki's content, add new content and recycle the front page every day (like wikipedia.net's daily featured articles, news, etc)

What will be expected of editors:

1. Editors will be assigned to recycle the front page 1 day of the week each, adding such things as daily featured articles, member spotlights, etc.. A lot of this is yet to be decided, but the editors will discuss this amongst themselves.

2. Ideally, editors should contribute new articles and brush up on existing articles on a regular basis, this is not strictly necessary... but.. you are expected to contribute at least 1 original article every 2 months.

3. Other. Again, a lot has yet to be decided - editors will discuss amongst themselves.

What you will gain as an editor:

- Access to a hidden forum for editors to, yes, discuss amongst themselves. :P

- You will be put in a new member group: ''editors''

- Increased English proficiency from writing.

The only requirement for being an editor is that you have to be somewhat involved with the YC community at large, but the staff might refuse you on other grounds.

Apply in this thread!

Yeah but would you write one article every two months? ;)

Umm... Yeah, I think I'll apply.

I have experience as a webmaster, edit stuff like crazy, write a lot and am around here a lot of the time. I enjoy going over Wikipedia looking for errors and correcting them and I happen to be anal about writing. I'm also pretty responsible about things like this and I play well with other children.

I also now type using full grammar

I am in the forumer forum, helping people out also...I can edit stuff and submit articles....I am good at editing, anything wrong I must fix...although here once you do it, you cannot fix (ShoutBox). So I would do good as an editor

I didn't question your ability as an editor nor your inclination to aid others (reread that sentance for clarification). Because I don't know you, I'm just wondering if you're willing to put forth the effort.

yes I am:P

Hill+Mark, you're in. RM clarinet has been refused by the staff.

Just ignore that ''contribute 1 article'' thing. I just want to make sure that the people that sign up actually want to work. (uh-oh, did I say that out loud?)

I will do my best to contribute articles anyway, I'm planning on doing ones on each of the dances in a baroque suite. Will we be in an 'Editors' group?

Anders, will we have bold text for our user titles, like Administrators/Moderators/Reviewers? And will we be on the staff list? *is way too excited*

You do not get bold text, no.

Editors aren't listed on the staff list as of yet, but i'm sure we could make that happen.

By the way, the private forum has already been created. I'm looking at it now. Preeeety secret forum. heh heh heh.

I don't mind if I am an editor or not, but I was actually discussing with Mike creating a section of the wiki dedicated to the Orchestra, as lots of people seem to ask about instrumentation and orchestration. I was thinking of somehow porting the original instrument pages from wikipedia, adding more info if needed, and linking to them from a main orchestra page.

Please, share plans like this in the wiki forum. :o

Beethoven, your application is being processed.

I just want to add that Editor status is basically the same as a wiki admin status. Meaning that you will be able to delete, protect/unprotect and rename wiki articles as well.
