Seeing as there are many threads on favourite classical music, I thought of making a favourite non-classical music thread. So what are you guys' favourite non-classical pieces? It can range from anything. Pop, rock, rap, jazz, instrumental, techno, metal, etc. etc..

So for mine it's (in no particular order):

1. Yanni - Nice to meet you.

2. Yanni - The End of August.

3. Hans Zimmer - Up is down ( from the pirates of the caribbean soundtrack)

4. John Adorney - To the other shore.

5. Jim Brickman - Rocket to the Moon

6. Jim Brickman - If You Believe

7. Yanni - Swept Away

8. Yanni - Within Attraction

9. Yanni -

10. David Lanz - Cristofori's Dream

Last but not least, Dr Bombay's

!

As you can see, I'm a huge Yanni fan.

EDIT: Make sure you check out the kick donkey duo violins in Yanni's within attraction, and Santorini too!

Really nice indeed. I listened to several Gordon Goodwin's pieces, and I like it very much. And Summertime rocks.

I love ragtime music. Reminds me of Mario.

Then there's some fado I like. I don't like fado singing when it's too fado-ish. Some fado-ish is great. Too much is pathetic and ugly.

Then I like Iberian arabesques and Simon and Garfunkel's The Sound of Silence, which is a masterpiece.

 I saw Ana Moura once....is she too fado-ish for you?

She was allright, her band was absolutely fantastic though.

Why is there no Miles on that list?!?! Sinner.

I'm not really into that kind of music Miles plays. I do like Modal jazz/Fusion/Whatever he plays, but it's not my Absolutely-Favorite-OMG-I'll-choose-that-over-anything kinda genre. ;) I'm more into straight and simple Big Band. ;) But I do pull out Kind of Blue once in a while. :)

The best "non-classical" classical piece probably is:

David Lanz - Cristofori's Dream

I have a fondness for Radiohead, Sara Mclachlan, and a lot of 80s and early 90s music.

I also enjoy listening to jazz although I have a hard time remembering the names of the songs.
