After a good long while of waiting for the ideas to come back, here we are! I'm rather proud to announce the completion of my symphony's first movement. It's been a good long while since I last posted about progress on this symphony, and I think it's about time I broke the ice and post the finished product here. I'm fully intending on finishing this symphony by the end of the next two years or so, but I'm taking a break from symphonic writing for now (because it drains my will to compose like no other). I'll be returning to form and focusing on writing for smaller ensembles (and piano covers!) while waiting for the ideas to start emerging for the second mvt. to this symphony, so hopefully I'll be able to post more after this. That being said, this piece is obviously far from truly finished: it's only a quarter of the struggle, after all. I'll be looking forward to reading all of your comments and criticisms as per usual. I can't wait to get through them all! (Also, to@Henry Ng Tsz Kiu: I owe this one to you! 😁)

One day a couple of weeks ago, I found this post on /r/composer where some guy (/u/AHG1) wrote a fugue for organ when he was a teenager. Anyway, I thought the subject was interesting, so I decided to do the fugue my own way. The original composer supported my endeavors as well, so I'm happy that he can finally see what I've come up with. This isn't a particularly unique fugue in my opinion, but any and all comments are of course welcome regardless. https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/191AToucbt0E9Py-6MqM0y_22IHwqxq6R

dramatic Dramatic Piano Piece "Doubts" in c minor
alex2east posted a topic in Piano Music, Solo Keyboard
Hi all! This is my new sad, dramatic classical piano composition in c minor. It is slightly inspired by composition of composers of the romantic era. The original purpose of this piece was to practise harmony, i.e. chord alterations, 7th- & 9th-chords and modulation, but it eventually ended up being a short nocturne- or prelude-like piece. It should be played with a good portion of pedal-use, especially in part A, in order to express a more "dream-like" feeling of the main "doubtful" melody. The structure of this piece is: A - A' - B1 - B2 - C - A - A' A: main theme in c minor A': a more persuasive version of A with a modulation to C Major B1: romantic part in C Major B2: romantic part in D flat Major 😄 a dramatic transition back to c minor Can this piece be called a nocturne? If not, which form would you suggest? Thank you for listening! Feel free to comment 🙂 K.R. Alex -
Hi, I made a second movement for my sonata but, I'm not sure if it fits the first movement. Sorry but I haven't transcribed the score of the second movement to Digital. My plan is to make the 3rd movement a minuet in C major and the 4th a presto in C minor, in rondo sonata form Any comment is apreciated :3

Im trying to write a full IV movement piano sonata, I have finished the 1st movement, but I'm having trouble with the following movements. My plan is this: I. Moderato-Allegro Sonata form II. Adagio, Rondo form or theme and variations (I'm not pretty sure about the B part) III. Allegreto Scherzo IV Presto or Allegro vivace Rondo sonata form I have composed a little of the second movement, Does it fit the first movement well? Also I have composed the first theme of the IV movement, I wanted to "recapitulate" some of the ideas, so I used same harmony as the first movement, but it doesn't convince me so much. Any feedback is apreciated :3.

This is an edit I did to a piece I wrote for school. I wanted something a little more professional sounding and not so humorous. I added a prelude to the fugue to give it some length and more opportunity to show my writing. I plan to use this as part of my portfolio for college, so any suggestions are welcome. Doesn't have to be about the piece, could be about what else to include in the portfolio. Sheet music is also available to see any engraving issues. There's probably a lot.
