  1. I started composing this almost 6 months ago, but I didn't finished ,until now because I run "Dry" of ideas. I used an harmonic ostinato by circle of fifths that repeats during all the piece. I haven't decided the dynamics very well, and don't sure where to add some more slurs. First time composing for string quintet, and for strings in general, hope there are no parts impossible to play. I add 2 audios, one with strings sounds and other with just piano, because some details are hardly noticeable because of the sound I used and my poor mixing. Any feedback is apreciated :3
  2. Please listen until the end. Feedbacks are very appreciated!! Enjoy your life <3
  3. Hello, Currently, I am writing a piece including Double Bass. I want to have the Bassist play a natural harmonic, but I cannot find a correct solution for the notation like in the following passage: (Do not mind the red notes) (The notes sound an octave lower) The result of the harmonic is an A4, but the open string is a D2 and the fingering an F2, with the result of 7 ledger lines... If I write the harmonic in the treble clef the passage is as follows: Although there are less ledger lines (4) I think this looks terrible too and I don't know if a bassist is able to read so many ledger lines below the treble clef. I have thought about using the tenor, alto or soprano clef, but is this allowed? Can bassist read these clefs? Do you have any advice for me? Maarten
  4. This piece here, despite the timing and the name of the piece, has nothing to do with the solar Eclipse this year. This piece was actually written back in 2012, and I've recently remastered it. It was wrote back when I was still very much into the ponies, and was actually inspired by Luna. The intro is meant to be grand, and fade into a sense of regalness while still keeping a dark undertone, signifying Luna's dark past. This piece starts off in f# minor, and then hits a mood change and goes to A Major in measure 82 until the last segment of the piece which is a modified version of the melody used from the center. This will be track number 8 on "Dust of the Past" when it is released.
  5. I would like to share with you my new composition. It was exceptionally painful and frustrating to finish, but I hope that those emotions added a bit of an artistic and melancholic spice to this silly little piece. Enjoy and thank you for listening.

    Nymph's Sleep (Opus 17)

A small lullaby thing I did for my Music Production (high school) class. The only objective was to produce a piece that will be exactly 2 minutes (my exceeds 120 seconds, but only because of the delay and reverb - I had to leave two empty bars for the sound to go down). I also tried to experiment with the harmony. It's a bit flexible, balancing between C major/minor and G major/minor. I just wanted to get out of the frame of choosing one key and using it's parallel or relative key. On the other hand, I do not want to write atonal music. Nymph's Sleep is written for two harps, glockenspiel, small string section (violoncellos and bassess), flute and bassoon, celesta, and synthesizers (bell synthesizers with a lot of delay). There is no score for this composition yet. Thank you for listening and let me know whether it's harmonically bearable - I did not study harmony yet.

  10. A Trio I composed about 3 years ago in mid-2013 for three friends who were professors at Friends University, Wichita. The unusual instrumentation was first suggested by the contrabassist, who had composed his own very fine piece for himself and the two others to play, and it inspired me to try my own hand at it. Unusual though it may be, the three instruments actually blend quite nicely together. Incidentally, the contrabassist was also a former love interest, which added yet more urgency to this attempt. The players had originally intended to premiere the work in 2014, but the plan fell through for various reasons - not the least being that the piece is somewhat challenging, and it wasn't easy for three university professors to find time to rehearse it sufficiently. In an attempt to garner some publicity, I published the piece on IMSLP, and earlier this year I heard from a trio of young men from Venezuela who had found it online and were planning to perform it. This ensemble of students did indeed premiere the piece in Venezuela in March of this year, albeit substituting 'cello for the contrabass. They did a yeoman's job of performing a piece intended to put professionals through their paces, and their performance may be found here: Scores for the movements are attached.
