I would like a bit of help please. You've probably answered this question a lot of times. I am an amateur composer who wants to publish my music. I don't want to make any money out of my compositions I just want to ensure that it' can be performed by anyone, professional or amateur. I don't want it changed or modified though, except for minor changes, if individual musicians want to change the dynamics, say. Using the licence chooser, Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International is suggested. My concern is that this is irrevokable and I'm not sure if that paints me into a corner in some way? Are there alternatives?

I'm not sure this is exactly the correct category for this, but it felt close enough. I, or rather, my band, is looking to arrange and play a public domain piece for our show next year, specifically Petrushka by Stravinsky. I know that to arrange a copyright piece you have to file a request and possibly pay a fee depending on the piece. I haven't been able to find any information regarding public domain pieces, but I assume we wouldn't have to go through the same channels as with a copyright piece. If anyone could provide any information and/or links regarding doing this it would be greatly appreciated.

Can you tell us a bit about the situation with Societies that handle copyright management for composers? Do you have experience using them? What is the proper time for a composer to join and how practical is the use of them? I am reviewing some of them in order to find out which suits best my situation. Do you believe international societies are better or I should turn to local? Thanks, Christopher
