Hi, as I understand glissandi on the oboe and english horn are nearly impossible, but I've also heard that they can be accomplished at least to a semitone by manipulating the embouchure. Is this true? Can it be done in both directions? Would these glissandi be possible on the english horn?

Hello I am writing a piece for 4 flutes. Each flute moves up in glissando patterns to create microcanons. I was speaking to my tutor about this the other day and he said that simply going from a low not to a high note via glissando on flute is limited because of the fingerings. My original plan was going from a low F to a high D sharp. with all the tonal and microtonal qualities in between. What is problematic about this? If I am starting from an F what is the highest note I can reach via glissando? Thanks

I feel like I must be missing something. How can modern notation software still be so useless at accurate, sensible playback of glisses? Is there any setting I can adjust in Sib 6 or Sib 7 (I have both installed -- bought the 7 upgrade but am still primarily working in 6) to make the playback less comical? Thank you.

I'm trying to use glissando with 1st violins, it is a half step from Db to C. However, using smartshape Glissando doesn't creates the real playback; it simply stays on C from the begining. But if I write a glissando from E to C, it plays Db to C! Is there any way I Finale could play the write notes? I use 2010 Finale with GPO. Thanks

Hello, I'm new to this site and basically the whole composing scene so I may use incorrect terms, but bear with me. I would like to know how to create a glissando in Cubase LE 5. I play everything live as I barely know how to sequence notes with MIDI and my laptop can't really handle it. Anyway, if it is not possible to edit the audio that I played live, how do I do it with MIDI? Do I use a effect such as an ease in or something? Thank you in advance! :)
