  1. Years ago, I've composed a Libera Me. When I wrote it, I started by a version a cappella. Finally, I decided to add an orchestra because I thought it could bring the piece to another dimension. What do think about this choice?
  2. Hey guys here is piece I just wrote for Classical Guitar and Mandolin! I had a lot of fun writing it and used a bit of renaissance counterpoint in the second part! Overall I had fun playing around with texture and dissonance within the two instruments. Also it was super fun to give the mandolin player different kind of lines than he is used too!
  3. Hi all, I’m looking for composers to contribute graphic scores for a score exchange project. Participants will upload graphic scores and there will be an open invitation for musicians to respond with an audio recording of their own personal interpretation of the score. Submissions should be for open instrumentation only (for any number of instruments), and not for specific instrumentation. You are encouraged to consider shape, colour, size, placement, words etc. Responses may be wide ranging - from digital art, to abstract painting, and video score/animation. Graphic notation can give a voice to musicians who find traditional notation limiting yet have the desire to express themselves through composition. Submission is open to anyone who is interested, not just professional composers. This online space will present opportunities for musicians and amateurs to interact and collaborate virtually. A driving motive behind the project is to bring people together in the time of social isolation. If you feel you need some inspiration, this article is a great place to start: https://www.theguardian.com/music/gallery/2013/oct/04/graphic-music-scores-in-pictures Alternatively, some examples of text scores if this is more your thing: Yoko Ono’s Grapefruit, George Brecht’s Water Yam Pauline Oliveros’ ‘Sonic Meditations Here is a link to the Google Form: https://forms.gle/eVyAo1e6UP1XQqmcA Thanks! Eliza 😊
  4. Want to hear what your music sounds like when done by a real musician?? This is your chance! I've lined up a vocalist who is ready and willing to provide a reading of your vocal music! She will review your work and then, if she can do it, will provide a recorded reading of the work/part. Leave your questions here -but, upload via the music uploads section. Be sure to tag the work with 'needs reading' so I can pull the scores for her. Thanks!
  5. I wrote this some time ago. I've been told it's a bit monochrome hard to follow the lines (because of jumps and crossings). I think it has some interesting passages none the less.
  6. Audio / score:
  7. In this work I explore an interweaving dissonant texture.
  8. Hello! I've composed this piece using special counterpoint rules, I hope you like it. Not the best midi (garritan) and the score isn't revised yet. It originally ended around the 3 minute mark, is it now too long?
  9. I've noticed there aren't many pieces representing more modern musical styles -so I'll add one of my newer works. This is part of a larger series of smaller piano works (Images). I apologize about the score, I used 'Flat' to input it from my manuscript and still am not used to it. Hope you enjoy!
  10. Hey gang, So I would like to share an idea which I use quite frequently (as followers of my music on this forum would know). I find a great deal of satisfaction and musical growth in composing short, imaginative works which I call "sketches". These sketches can be of animals, people, places, things, emotions..anything really! For me, it takes stress away as I work because I know I don't have to worry about any rigid form or style. I am just composing a sketch. If my sketch turns into a decent idea, I can then expand it into a full length piece. The upside is, you can compose a set of several sketches and it becomes a functioning musical work very easily. So that's basically it. You probably have done something like this before, but I just wanted to get the idea going in case you haven't. Feel free to let me know what you think!
  11. I'd like to encourage EVERYONE on here to take a listen to a 24/7 radio station dedicated to promoting works by living composers. Many of the works programmed so far have not had any real performance outside of their premiere. One work, that I know of, hadn't even had a premiere -the broadcast turned out to be its world premiere! The radio station can be viewed here: http://etlux.playtheradio.com We also have a companion website, still in development, that features a program of the works played, program notes for selected works, composer bios, and a forum to connect musicians with featured composers with the goal of generating future performance and commission opportunities. The website can be viewed here: https://etluxradio.playtheradio.com ALSO: I am sponsoring a YCM Forum Competition seeking radio jingles. The deadline is September 15! Get those Jingles written!!

So, if you have any projects that you need recorded or published (maybe before school starts in the fall!), please contact us! We would love to work with you! Here is our website: http://silverlingvirtualstudio.weebly.com/ Also note that we offer a 10% academic discount on our orchestration and engraving services.
