This is the second part of this sonatina. I wonder if in ancient times, there was music made first with pentatonic scales. So this piece uses the In Sen scale in D which is D - Eb - G - A - Bb. .... This is in the right hand all the time (except in two or three phrases where it is harmonized by thirds or sixths and the scale is enriched with other parallel In Sen scale. In the left hand I harmonized freely. Hope somebody enjoys it.

Hi... Since I learnt of the Mosaic Form from Stravinsky (Symphony of Wind Instruments), among others, I fell in love with it. In it, there are a number of short parts that the composer put together in different manners. So, the concept of classical forms, and the concept of repetition is simply another one. This piece takes the idea of the labyrinth from the other side (compared to the one in the prepared piano piece). This one looks inwards and I wanted to write something "intimate". So, this work is written for another kind of prepared piano: it should be played with the una corda pedal all the time, and with a fabric on the strings of the piano, to get the sound. There are 11 fragments using always pentatonic scales (some of them with two scales at a time). There are two expositions of the material: Firstly in a sort of "disorder" (as looking for the exit), secondly in the "right" order. Details can be seen in the final page of the score. I am aware that this Mosaic Form is something unexpected (in fact that's its main purpose). You can't compare it to a AB or ABA form, or whatever. Its organization takes its essentials in other concepts. LABYRINTH 2 - SCORE.pdf

Hey guys so this is a piece that I'm working on at the moment that's supposed to be an oriental sounding sorta thing. I've gotten two main themes but I have no idea what else to add to keep it interesting or how I'm going to reintroduce the themes I already have. This is my first try at this sort of sound so I would love any points to work on and if you have ideas about what to add or change please let me know ;)

Peach Scented Whisper (Opus 14, Asian Fantasy no 2)
Guest posted a topic in Incidental Music and Soundtracks
Hello fellow composers, I would like to publish and show you my newest composition - Peach Scented Whisper, inspired by classical/folk/traditional Chinese and Japanese music. The short, easy to listen piece is based entirely on minor pentatonic starting on D flat and in a smaller number of bars - the same type of scale starting on B. The given score is written for piano, since my music teacher advised me to write as much as possible using that instrument (I'm a high school student with no much background in music studies). I intended to use Chinese ruan moon guitar and guzheng patches, but since the midi file had a very wide pitch range (which is characteristic for piano), it didn't gave a satysfying sound. In result, the final product uses traditional, European orchestral ensemble harp. Enjoy and thank you for any helpful hints or suggestions!- 13 replies
