Hello all - I am trying to write a composition that follows these guidelines. I have a basic motif already, and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on how to proceed. I've never written for this exact ensemble before (2 violins, 1 viola, flute, and clarinet) and I'm aiming for a 3.5-4 minute piece. Are there any formulas that might help, or anything orchestration-related that you might suggest?

Most harmonies and melodies are a sudden inspiration triggered by different emotional memories. I don't know how I feel about this new piece but I hope you all can get something from it.

Here is the link to my string quartet that I wrote in February, performed wonderfully by the Tippett Quartet. Do like, subscribe and comment what you think...! I'd love to hear it 🙂

Just finished the first movement of my new project. The first movement is introduced by an 8-bar section (slow), follow by an exciting syncopated section. The development involves elements from both sections and goes to a soothing C major slow section, which is interrupted by the syncopated section inspired coda. Please enjoy 🙂

I started this piece around the time I was taking advanced theory in college. I was trying to compose a tune that sounded "classical", and I wrote the first half quickly. Around the cadenza I was stuck for a few months until I finally found some inspiration in a new friend of mine. The musicians in the recording were great and were able to produce what you hear on a time constraint. Let me know which composer(s) you think I was trying to imitate. I hope you enjoy!
